Caribbean Rhythms
Margaret and I spent a month in the Caribbean, taking two back-to-back cruises from Fort Lauderdale. With a couple of exceptions the Grand Princess and the Holland American Maasdam called on different islands. We visited Aruba, Curacao, Grenada, Barbados, St. Vincent, St. Kitts, St. Thomas, Dominica Republic, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, Antigua, St. Maarten, Tortilla, and the Bahamas. What I noticed was the wonderful colors used in the buildings, boats, clothes, and nature’s pallet. So this collection is not trying to document or represent the islands but is a variety of scenes that attracted my eye while looking through the camera. Vivid colors everywhere.

Highlight for Album: Cuba
Cuba
I found Cuba an inviting country to wander and photograph. Very pleasant people, old cars from the 1950s and 1960s are on every street, men playing dominoes in the shade, and Che Guevara murals are everywhere. Cuba is the most populous island nation in the Caribbean. Cuban music is very rich and can be heard every night. The food is a mixture of Caribbean and Spanish but it seem that no meal is complete without black beans and rice.

Netherlands
How could anyone not find something to like about this small European "low country"? Being such a compact country, the visitor is never very far from quaint villages, old farm houses, and windmills. Many are world heritage sites. The country's flower and cheese marketes are not to be missed. The tulip fields and Keukenhof Gardens in April will never be forgotten.

Highlight for Album: Santorini
Santorini
The Greek island of Santorini is the southern most island of the Cycladic group in the Aegean Sea. In Ancient Time, the island was circular but due to a volcano eruption the center sank and all that remains are parts of the rim. Many of the villages are situated on cliffs with views over the submerged volcano. Among those villages are Fira, the capital and Oia on the Western tip of the island. Oia was my favorite and a wonderful village to explore.

Cambodia
Who has not heard of the ancient Angkor civilization? Beginning about the 9th century, the Angkor left their legacy with carvings on their temple walls. The carvings told stories of kings, battles, and everyday life of the Angkor. While the wooden structures of the various Khmer regimes have not survived, many of the stone temples are still standing today. Our limited time in Cambodia was spent in the area of Siem Reap, which was centrally located to many of the ancient temples.
